LABOURS £1MILLION RAID ON THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED (07/02/10)

The centrepiece of the Labour / Tory budget for Falkirk Council is a £1m raid on the pockets of Falkirk’s most vulnerable.

A move, favourably presented by the Falkirk Herald, is to levy charges for the Home Care Service despite the fact the SNP abolished these charges in 2006, however, it is the level of charges that has alarmed service users. Read more...


JOYCE CHALLENGED BY FALKIRK MSP (07/02/10)

Scottish Labour MPs who have failed to pay back public cash as a result of the investigation into MPs expenses have been challenged to repay the money immediately.

SNP MSP for Falkirk West Michael Matheson called in particular on Eric Joyce, who has £8602.56 outstanding that he has been ordered to repay to give back the public’s cash.

SNP WELCOME INCREASE IN SMALL BUSINESS BONUS THRESHOLDS (07/02/10)

Councillor Angus MacDonald, SNP Economic Development Spokesperson, has welcomed the announcement by Finance Minister John Swinney in his 2010/11 Budget Speech that the Scottish Government will increase the thresholds for the Small Business Bonus, which will result in over 3,500 businesses in Falkirk District benefiting from greater business rate relief. LABOUR AND TORIES PUT FALKIRK BOTTOM OF CARE LEAGUE (17/01/10)

Kinship Carers in the Falkirk Council area are the poorest paid carers in Scotland under the current Labour / Tory Coalition Administration of Falkirk Council.

Kinship Carers are family members who look after the children of other family members and, according to the SNP, save Falkirk Council millions of pounds in care costs the council would have to meet if they became responsible for the care of these children. Read more...


SNP SLAM LABOUR CUTS IN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES (17/01/10)

Proposals to terminate an out of hours helpline for those suffering from mental health problems has been slammed by local SNP MSP, Michael Matheson and SNP Councillors within Falkirk Council.

The “Time Out” helpline was established to some years ago and operated by the Falkirk & District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH) with six part time members of staff. Read more...
