SNP Launch “Manifesto For The People”

The SNP successfully launched its 2012 manifesto for the May 3 elections at the Falkirk Stadium with Local Government Minister, Derek MacKay present along with the STV news cameras.

The manifesto entitled, “Taking Our Communities Forward” contains a series of commitments from the SNP that are affordable and sustainable as the SNP seek to reverse the decline within Falkirk Council under the current Labour / Tory coalition. Continue reading

SNP The Only Party With Ambition For Local Government

The SNP have today published an analysis of local election poll notices, which show it is the only party to be fielding more council candidates in next month’s election than in May 2007.

The figures show that the SNP will be standing 176 more candidates than in 2007, including 4 additional SNP candidates in Falkirk, while Labour will be fielding 24 fewer, the Tories 17 fewer and the Lib Dems an astonishing 84 fewer.  There are also 135 less independents standing. Continue reading

False Claims Show Labour Campaign In Disarray.

Proof that Labour’s campaign for the Falkirk Council elections is in disarray came within a Labour Party leaflet that claims credit for high profile SNP achievements from the previous SNP led council Administration.

In a leaflet circulated by the leader of the Labour / Tory coalition, Craig Martin, the out of touch Labour Leader claimed credit for the four new high schools delivered by the SNP up to 2007. Continue reading

SNP To Confirm No Joint Administration With The Tories

The SNP will reiterate a pledge not to set up a joint Administration with the Tories in the event of a hung council after the May 3 elections when they unveil their manifesto on 16 April.

At present Falkirk Council is run by a joint pact between Labour, the Tories and two former Independent Councillors, a pact that has alienated thousands of traditional Labour voters suffering at the hands of David Cameron’s Tory Government. Continue reading

SNP Welcome Green Bus Boost for Falkirk

The SNP has welcomed a £1.8million investment that will see a further 26 low carbon vehicles added to the Scottish bus fleet. The new buses are additional to the 48 low carbon buses added by five bus operators to the Scottish fleet in last year’s Scottish Green Bus Fund round.

The buses produce 30% less carbon emissions than conventional diesel buses. Lothian Buses Ltd, Henderson’s Travel, National Express Dundee, MacEwen’s Coach Services and Deveron Coaches Ltd will benefit from the cash injection.

Anger as Parliamentary Question Reveals 761 Sulphur Dioxide Breaches in Grangemouth

Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald has reacted angrily to the revelation by the Environment Minister Stewart Stevenson that there have been a total of 761 breaches of the Sulphur Dioxide Mean Objective since the Air Quality Management Area was declared in Grangemouth in 2005.
