Joyce
brings shame to Falkirk
The news that local Falkirk MP, Eric Joyce has,
once again, brought ridicule to Falkirk this time by having
the highest expenses claim of any MP in the UK has come
as no surprise to Falkirk SNP activists.
Memories
of the 2000 Falkirk West by-elections remain fresh on how
Eric Joyce was portrayed by Labour's London spin doctors
as being the local candidate when his family home was in
Kent. Indeed New Labour even had the audacity to claim that
the SNP by-election candidate, David Kerr could not properly
represent the people of Falkirk West from his home in Cumbernauld.
Speaking
to the Falkirk West SNP Michael Matheson MSP said,
"Eric
is becoming a figure of ridicule nationally. Not only is
he the figure New Labour trot out to defend the policies
no other Labour backbencher would he is the epitome of what
is rotten within the system of government we have.
Each
time Eric holds a local surgery, which mercifully for the
taxpayer isn't often, the cost of a return flight from his
home in the South East of England is charged. That is not
healthy for local democracy and local accountability."
