Huge
Lead For SNP in Latest Opinion Poll
The
latest opinion poll to be published in Scotland has shown
a massive rise in support for the SNP, up from 33% at the
elections to 48% today.
Satisfaction
with the new SNP government is the main factor in the massive
rise in support for the SNP according to the poll published
in the Herald newspaper. Of those questioned 40% said they
were satisfied with the new SNP government with only 12%
declaring themselves dissatisfied.
The
SNP's main opponents, New Labour has remained static on
32% demonstrating that the Gordon Brown honeymoon has had
little impact on Scottish political opinion.
The
poll result has been welcomed by local SNP MSP for Falkirk
West, Michael Matheson,
"In
the last few days before polling the negative campaign of
New Labour fought through their allies in the British press
did have an impact on the SNP support on polling day.
However,
since the election the people of Scotland have seen that
not only has the world not ended but popular policies on
such as health and education have been implemented by an
administration in a hurry.
All
of this has shown that the SNP not only have more ambition
for our country but can also demonstrate that we can govern."
