Norwegian
delegation to visit Falkirk district
A
delegation of Norwegian Councillors and top-level Council
Executives from Sor Trondelag Regional Council are to visit
Falkirk next week for two days on a fact finding and goodwill
visit.
The visit has been arranged through the Nordic Enterprise
Trust, a body that builds up trade links between the Nordic
countries and Scotland. A specific interest of the delegation
is how we link culture with business in Falkirk District
and visits have been arranged for the councillors to Callendar
House, the Falkirk Wheel and Delta Studios in Larbert. There
will also be a seminar where councillors from both countries
will look at the way each council promotes it's specific
areas.
Councillor
Angus MacDonald, Depute Convener of Economic Development,
who has been instrumental in securing the visit, commented:-
"I have always believed that we have not been
making the most out of our links with our Scandinavian cousins
as there are fantastic business opportunities out there
for local firms that wish to trade with the Nordic countries.
The visit by Sor Trondelag Regional Council will hopefully
cement a link that local firms can capitalise on and act
as a catalyst for future economic growth in both areas.
We look forward to welcoming our Norwegian visitors next
week and promoting Falkirk district as the best place in
Scotland to do business".
Anne
Grethe Eckmann of the Nordic Enterprise Trust commented:-
"It is a pleasure to work with such a dynamic and forward
looking local Council as Falkirk. We hope that this meeting
between Falkirk and Sor-TRondelag may be a key event in
the development of our "Hanseatic Microfinance Initiative"
which aims to provide new ways for economic value to be
created and circulated within local communities".
